After receiving a two match ban, Dandenong Thunder hosted Hume City at George Andrews Reserve with up to 500 spectators showing their loyalty by watching the match from behind the fence out of the ground.

 

The first half resulted in both teams fighting an arm wrestle with limited opportunities, and tight battle of the midfields.

 

Tansel Baser and Alfonso Opazo worked hard through the midfield, while Serdar Pir returned to some form after an indifferent start 2010 season and Izzy Erdogan also battled hard for the red and white. With constant pressure Hume City struggled to trouble the home team in the final third of the ground.

Dandenong came close to scoring after Kellaway tested the City captain, only to have Acevski lift to the challenge at the 19 minute mark. Dandenong working tirelessly through Rexhepi, Ibraimi and Davidson came close once again only to have Acevski take the ball before Wilford could get to the contest.

 

Opazo took a shot at the 28th minute only to have the ball go wide of the goals. With the away team working its way back into the game Petrevski set Izzy Erdogan up on the right side who in turn whipped the ball to the feet of Cardozo who uncharacteristically missed an open goal at the 31st minute of the match.

Behic attempted a long distance shot at goal which did not trouble the Thunder keeper. Petrevski set up Opazo at the 41 minute mark only for the ball to be headed wide of the goals.

 

Ben Starosta came close after a desperate shot only for the ball to trouble over the head of Louie Acevski at the 46th minute of the match. With both teams unbale to trouble the scoreboard in the first half, the referee blew the whistle for half time.

 

Dandenong was the team that came out in the second half hungry for an early goal, and they almost stole it only for the City captain who miraculously denied a well worked attack on the Hume City last third at the 48th minute.

Richard Cardozo tried to set up Petrevski at the 50th minute only for the City striker to see the ball over the cross bar with his head.

 

Dandenong Thunder capatilised on a cunning mistake by Delizzio losing the ball in defensive area and Ibraimi, stealing a goal to send the home team up 1-0 at the 51st minute of the match.

Claiming the lead early in the second half, Dandenong Thunder switched its efforts to playing defence happy to sit on the 1-0 lead. With Dandenong changing its tactics, Andy Vlahos and Turhan Sumbul came on at the 55th minute to assist City in its desperate attempt to pinch victory from the home team. Petrevski came close on a few occaisions, and almost set up a clear cut opportunity for Turhan Sumbul, who miss timed his kick, missing the target at the 60th minute.

 

63rd minute saw Petrevski miss a great opportunity after Vlahos set the talented striker in the box, only for the ball to well wide of goals.

 

With constant pressure applied to the Dandenong defence in the last 30 minutes of the match, Hume City was unable to score resulting in Dandenong taking the three points, an Hume City going back to the drawing boards for its next home match against an improving Heidleberg United.
