Hume City completely depleted with injury arrived at Kevin Bartlett Reserve to continue its unbeaten start to season. Missing the likes of Izzy Erdogan, Phil Riccobene, Steven Pace, Andy Vlahos, Ross Thompson and Brendan Beni, the coaching staff called upon the youth to step up for the club. web4

Richmond began the match the better of the two teams, aiming to capatilise on a depleted City outfit. The first twenty minutes of the match saw Richmond form attacks on the City goals, but was denied by a determined Serdar Pir claiming his first start to to the season. Serdar Pir and Mitch Bosevski were able to rally Mehmet Karakilic and Fab Delizio to ensure Richmond's attacks were ineffective.

Tansel Baser and Alfonso Opazo were dominant in the midfield, whilst Petrevski was battling tirelessly upfront. With no real chances formed in the first half, it seemed both teams were going through the motions until Petrevski came close with a trademark header at the 42nd minute only to have the Richmond defence clear the ball away. With the crowd counting the seconds down to half time, Richmond pinched a goal through Krncevic sending the home team up 1-0 at half time.

Andy Vlahos, shocked with the 1-0 deficit decided to substitute and injured Richard Cardozo for youngster Turhan Sumbul. Sumbul had an immediate impact on the game with his size and power missing a clear header at the 47th minute. Pumped and eager to equalise Opazo missed a great opportunity at the 50th minute sending the ball over the cross bar. Just when the momentum of the game was swinging in favour of Hume City, a worried Vlahos had to deal with a double substitution after Bosevski and Talevski both came off with hamstring injuries at the 53rd minute of the match. With no more tricks up his sleeve off the bench, Vlahos let his young brigade loose to try and score the equaliser which came after Turhan Sumbul used his aerial abilities to bring the ball down to Opazo who slotted the ball into the nets at the 57th minute of the match. Jake Nakic impressed the crowd with his vision and ability and Ali Catak did a strong job at left back.

Richmond almost went 2-1 up at the 72nd minute of the match through a long distance shot on goal but the ball went over the cross bar. They followed up with Catalano almost scoring after he broke away with his speed only to be denied by City Captain Acevski. Acevski once again saved his team making a double save after Visevic was unable to capatilise on a one on one
opportunity.

Bouyed by the gallant efforts of their captain both Delic and Sumbul missed clear cut opportunities only to see the ball in the arms of the keeper.

The referee blew the whistle and both teams walked off the park with 1 point in the bank.

After a successful start to the 2010 season Hume City once again proved to the football world that it is leaving no stone unturned to cement itself long term in the Victorian Premier League. Hume City has announced former Galatasaray and Turkish National Team Keeper Yasin Ozdenak as its Director of Football.

Ozdenank comes to the club with an impressive CV, of which boasts playing in the same team as the likes of  Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, Carlos Alberto, Giorgio Chinaglia, Johan Neeskens, Werner Roth and Rick Davis, during his stint with New York Cosmos in the late 70's.

Ozdenak, represented the Turkish National Team 40 times, whilst playing for Galatasaray between 1966 - 1976.

Yasin Ozdenak said, "I am extremely excited to come to a club with an unbelievable drive for success. I aim to share with the club my knowledge which I have built over my playing and coaching careers. We will be revising everything from the bottom up, and ensuring that all facets of the club is operating efficiently. I believe I have a lot to offer Australian Football."

Ozdenak's coaching career is as impressive as his playing career, working as an assistant coach to Mircea Lucescu between 1999 - 2003 during Galatasaray's most successful ever period winning the European Super Cup against European powerhouse Real Madrid.

Ozdenak comes to Hume City from Seoul FC where he worked as an assistant to Turkish Legend Senol Gunes for the past three seasons.

Hume City Communications Manager Ezel Hikmet said,"We are extremely happy with this appointment. I dont think anyone can question Yasin Ozdenak's experience and credibilty. With the support of our supporters, and the Hume Community we aim to continue our quest become a stable and recognised club in the VPL. Ozdenak will oversee the operational duties of the club and work hand in hand with all of our coaches. Andy Vlahos' position as senior coach is in no way affected by this appointment made by the club. Vlahos is our senior coach and has been doing an amazing job thus far, after taking the club to a preliminary final in 2009 as well as
starting the 2010 season undefeated after 6 rounds. We will continue our 'together everyone achieves more' approach to running this club, which is eager for long term sustainability and success.

Making two changes to its starting line-up, Andy Vlahos replaced by Dusko Delic and Mehmet Karakilic replaced in the starting 11 by Alfonso Opazo, Hume City hosted a strong Sunshine Georgies outfit for its first match of the season at Broadmeadows Valley Park.

With the wind behind them in the first half Sunshine Georgies, played a tight and physical brand of football in an attempt to derail the Hume City attack and polish on the ball of the past 4 weeks. Hume City lost Phil Riccobene at the 27th minute mark to what seemed like a serious knee injury after colliding with Papadopolous in the middle of the park. Andy Vlahos called on his experienced defender Serdar Pir to take over right back for the remainder of the match.

With the match in the balance, and both sides determined to open the scoring it was Sunshine who had the chances in the first half. Fiddell Richards came close after he headed the ball into the arms of Louie Acevski at the 31 minute mark. At the 33 minute the Georgies followed up with a corner kick which almost sent them up 1-0, only to be denied by hard working Opazo who cleared the ball off the line to keep his team on level terms. Fiddell Richards took another long distance shot which went over the cross bar after the ball was turned over by the City defence.

Steven Pace set up an inform Zoran Petrevski at the 37th minute who crossed the ball only to have it cleared by the Sunshine defence.

Stuart Nicholson came close to scoring for Sunshine only to be denied by City captain Louie Acevski.

Petrevski was fouled at the 45th minute just outside the box by Kyle Joryeff. Sensing a goal Cardozo took a quick left foot shot on goal only to be saved by the keeper.

Izzy Erdogan was given a yellow card at the 45 + 1 minute mark for a crude tackle. Unable to break the deadlock both teams went into the rooms 0-0 at half time.

The second half saw a Hume City outfit ready to take charge of the match. Zoran Petrevski came out of the rooms like a man possessed winning every single 1 on 1 battle with his opponent running them around the ground and making it impossible for the defence to keep up with him. Petrevski took a long distance shot with his left foot only to have the opposition keeper tip the ball over the cross bar in the first two minutes of the second half. Petrevski once again came close to goals after he almost put the ball past the keeper with a header at the 48th minute mark.

Putting constant pressure on the opposition defence, Sunshine finally cracked at the 50th minute after Goran Talevski set up Richard Cardozo who scored a ripping left foot goal from outside the box, leaving all players on the park watching in disbelief.

Sensing more goals Hume City continued to attack and trouble Sunshine through constant pressure starting from the defence. Steven Pace and Izzy Erdogan once again played influential roles, wining the battle over their direct opponents.

At the 58th minute Izzy Erdogan was taken off the ground after spiltting his head open in a clash of heads with Gary Greenhill. Replaced by Mehmet Karakilic, Hume City came close at the 60th minute with a shot by Talevski which was blocked by the Sunshine keeper.

Dusko Delic followed up with a shot on goal at the 62nd minute, only to be denied once more the Sunshine keeper.

At the 64th minute Cardozo took a well timed corner kick where Petrevski was fouled in the box, but no penalty was awarded. Unsettling the opposition defence with great effect Petrevski scored at the 65th minute mark sending Hume City up 2-0. Richard Cardozo followed up with calm flick past the keeper at the 67th minute mark to make it 3-0 sending the City fans wild.

In complete shock Sunshine struggled to gain composure whilst Hume City stamped its authority on the game. Steven Pace was replaced by youngster Jake Nakic at the 70th minute. With three of its starting 4 defenders off with injuries Hume City reformed its team to combat a hungry Sunshine attack trying to gain some respect on the scoreboard.

Sunshine pulled one back after James Blackburn put in a well timed cross at the 77th minute to have Stuart Nicholson header the ball past Acevski, making the score line 3-1. With a scrappy contest, and ordinary playing conditions both sides arm wrestled the remainder of the match to no effect until Papadopolous scored a diving header to make the scores 3-2 at the 91st minute of the match.

With Sunshine searching for a third goal, the referee blew the whistle and Hume City won the match making it 5 wins from 5 starts for season 2010.
